On February 14, 1998, I asked Kristen to marry me. It was Valentine's Day, and I proposed while we rode the carousel at the Van Andel Museum. We set the date for that fall--on her parents' anniversary.

Michigan falls can be beautiful, but unpredictable. A week before our wedding, friends of ours had their own wedding. It snowed. When our own date rolled around, though, it was a beautiful sunny day, warm but not hot. Perfect for a wedding.
